Discussed design parameters and built an experimental device.
Biology team got a lab cart and worked with the materials they received from Front Range.
Biology compared the materials, shapes, and sizes of sample tubes.
Worked on decision matrix for the vials and revised the problem statement.
Ordered experiment plans and team leads wrote problem statement.
Looked at potential equipment such as agitation plates, autoclaves, and freezers.
Prepared back closet for CASIS use throughout the year by converting it into a lab.
The Bio team planned out where they can do preliminary experiments and created a list of what they need to experiment. Discussed which kind of vials they are going to use to grow bacteria in. They also brainstormed which strains of e. coli will be used in this experiment.
The team continued to research methods to mix bacteria and nutrients and determine the best kind of bacteria and nutrient base.
The biology team is practicing microbiology techniques such as micropipetting and gel electrophoresis. The materials and instruction was provided by our mentor at Front Range
The biology team explained the details of the project to our mentor from Front Range Community College. They also discussed the gravity of the Earth, Moon, and Mars along with what the lag phase is.
